Scrapbook Hobby Hazards

Yep.  That is a cup of coffee with a paint brush in it.  Who knew that scrapbooking could be dangerous? lol.  And please let's have no SMH's.  I know that I'm not the only person who has ever done this.  Right?.  I was really in my mixed media groove and was not paying attention.  I accidentally dropped my brush into my coffee instead of my water cup.  Sucked.  But at least I had drank most of it already:)

I'm just dropping in with a quick page share and won't be rambling too much:)

I'm still rolling along with my Big Picture Classes.  This page was inspired by Aly Dosdale's Document 2015 Class....

Yet more Halloween....

Photos from our visit to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.  See the sticker in the lower right corner of the photo?  My husband went through a phase where he put the date stamp on all of the photos that he took.  Convenient in some ways.  Horrible when it is in a place that I can't crop out or cover up:(

Love this page.  Everything about it from the colors to the embellishments to how fun it was to create.

Thanks for stopping by and happy Monday!

Mini Albums vs Scrapbook Layouts

It seems that my scrapbooking preferences have shifted.  A few years ago all that I could seem to do was mini albums.  Now all that I can seem to do is scrapbook pages:)  What about you, are you a mini albumer or a scrapbook layouter?

I am whittling away at my humongous stash and managed to get rid of (shift is a better word) 1 cube of paper this weekend.  I keep my paper in an Ikea storage unit so whenever I am using a lot of paper, it leaves me with an empty cube that can be used to store other stuff.  It feels strange to think about the fact that eventually, I won't have any cubes full of paper.

My February Hip Kit is still waiting for me:(  I have a few more pages to do for January before we have permission to get it sorted.  The March Kit looks amazing!  It is time to get crackin'.

This page made me so happy that I just kept it hangin' around with no photos for a couple of months.  Yes.  Months.  Is it bad that I liked it better without the photos?  I think that I'm going to reprint the photos in black & white....

The photos are great but the products on this page are so pretty.  Sigh....

This is a another page that I have had for awhile.  I couldn't decide what approach I wanted to take with the photos.  Just fall scenery was a little to cliche so in the end I added photos of some of my favorite fall moments.  Really happy with my decision....

This page makes me incredibly happy!  I actually used the scraps from my Hip Kit along with a photo of the builder image of our house.

This page was fun to make too.  The punchy colors and bold black and white just speak to me:)  I used white acrylic paint and Heidi Swapp Color shine to paint the letters in colors that matched that fantastic plaid paper.  So. Much. Fun.  Love the look to boot.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week and I hope that you enjoyed the past long weekend.  I did almost nothing but scrap, eat and watch tv:)

I Finally Got My Numbers Together!

In January I managed to:

·                     Complete 79 layouts (WHAT!)
·                     Use 68 pieces of patterned paper
·                     Use 54 packages of stickers & embellishments
·                     Use 58 pieces of cardstock
·                     Use 3 - 6X6 pads
Use 29 Sketches and
Finish 4 rolls of Washi Tape

I feel amazing about that!

I also feel amazing about the pages that I am sharing today:)  8 of them to be exact.  The first is about family in general and how if you're lucky enough to be part of a big, close knit one they make your life so, so good.  Love the colors on this page and how well my stash stuff mixed with my new.  You can also see the headache that I have been talking about with printing my photos.  The photo is slightly too big but I made it work.....

My sweet girl has a serious Beyonce crush and was thrilled to get this photo before they took the billboard down.  I was thrilled with making this page:)  You can't see it very well in the photo but the letters are gold and I filled some of them in with spray mist...

This is probably one of my favorite pages ever!

This page is definitely not a favorite but it is going into the album.  I adore the photo of my sis and her kiddos wearing the shirts they made on Christmas Eve.  I'm into paper weaving and wanted to try a couple of ideas out.  The square mat below the photo was a little experimentation....

This page is all about he Missy Whidden inspiration!  Love her work and she was right, the floral paper just begged to be fussy cut.  All but the cardstock came from my January Hip Kit.  The photo is of my girl all fancied up to go out with her friends.....

My girl dressed up as Ariel for Halloween at Disney.  The whole family donned a Disney themed costume for the day.  Fun times:)  I made the black background paper using glitter, sand, mist and embossing powder....

Hip Kit Club November 2016 throwback!  This page is a favorite because who doesn't love winter in NYC?.....

Another page that makes my heart beat faster.  The papers, the cute photo of my nephew.   Love his little piggy tales:)  In our family, the children don't traditionally get their hair cut until they turn 1 year old.  It would be interesting to find out why and when that started......

And that's all folks.  Thanks for stopping by the blog and have a fantastic weekend!

What I'm Reading

This post should be titled what I am trying to read because for the first time in my life, reading is a struggle!  I have always been an avid reader.  Always.  I have literally read thousands of books in my lifetime.  Thousands.  But for some reason lately every book that I start is not catching my interest.  I've even been re-reading books which is something that I never ever do.  I'm thinking about setting a reading goal.  A thing that I've never had to do!  Seriously - in the past it was not unheard of for me to read 4-6 books a month.  Reading is that serious for me.  In order to kick start my interest again I picked up a couple of new reads at Books A Million this past weekend...

  1. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
  2. A Bitter Truth by Charles Todd
  3. One Fifth Avenue by Candace Bushnell
  4. The Abominable by Dan Simmons (I've actually had this for a while and it is the worst book I've ever attempted.  But I am one of those readers who must finish every book they start:( so it will get read!)
  5. The Judge by Steve Martini
The plan is to get all of these finished by the end of March.

Maybe what has happened is that I replaced my reading with scrapbooking lol.  I have 4 more pages to share today!

The papers that I used for this page are so not normally my style.  They were fun to play with which made this layout come together really fast.  I also had a little help from Jen Gallachers' Make it Meaningful video #22.  Love how the page came out and that there were photos to match:)

I love this photo!  The space ship in the background happened to be the boys favorite exhibit and they were discussing it while my husband was trying to snap a photo.  They had so much to say but my niece was over it!  All of the supplies are from my December 2016 Hip Kit with just a few things from my stash...

My oldest daughter when she was a baby...

The layout was inspired by this sketch...

This photo has been used before but I felt that it was too small and really wanted to scrap it again in a bigger size.  Love the page!.....

Guess what?  It's Humpday!!!!  Hope you have a great one and thanks so much for stopping by😊

Patterned Paper -vs- White Cardstock Background

Which side are you on?  Personally I am not on either side and am comfortable using both types of backgrounds.  If The Rock forced me to choose it would reluctantly be patterned paper because that is what I tend to use the most for my layout backgrounds.  Most of the pages that I will be sharing this week actually have bright paper backings so The Rock is wise right?  Anywho, the layout share.

My husband and my son in 2011.  The funny thing about scrapping pages out of order is that you get to see just how much you baby has grown in such a short amount of time:(  He is now taller than my husband!  I used my silhouette to cut the super sized Polaroid background...

Almost all new stuff on this page.  Yeah me:)  We were just goofing around on an after dinner walk.  I love how my Mom always dresses up to go out no matter where we are going.  Even for Walmart runs.  I have no idea what I was doing.  Maybe dancing? ...

The color run again.  I was on my sisters Facebook page and found some more photos:)

My husband and I at his company Christmas party.  They actually had a meet and greet at a swanky bar than we walked to the stadium for a hockey game.  When he told me about it I was like "who has a Christmas party at a hockey game?"  I was picturing sweaty fans with red face paint and no shirts.  Man was that NOT what was going on!  They had a box and it was amazing!!!!  They have forever ruined the cheap seats for me lol.  The supplies are actually from my January 2017 Hip Kit.  Such pretty stuff....

Happy, Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks for stopping by!

AAAHHHH The Weekend Was Here:)

I had big plans to crafty it up Saturday and Sunday.  I only finished 2 pages the entire weekend and I took zero photos the entire weekend.  Sunday was Superbowl Sunday so most of my time went towards prepping for it:(  And again, no photos happened!

The title of this page is so vague!  Don't ask me what I was thinking because I have no idea.  Maybe when it's time to journal an idea will come to me about how to make this title make sense:)  The layout was inspired by Aly Dosdale's class (Document February 2015) on Big Picture Classes....

The week wasn't a total crafty loss and I have 4 pages to share.  I started working on my numbers for January and plan to share them one day this week.  They should show a good amount of work done but you never know...
TI love this page!  I printed the photo at an odd size and softened the colors/sharpness to give it a dreamy look.  My nephew looks adorable and I wanted him to take center stage.  The paper really did do most of the design work.....

All 3 of my sisters kids took swim and she snapped this photo after one of their heats.  All of the supplies are from my December 2016 Hip Kit...

This is my least favorite page today!  I started out with this great idea for the shape on the right hand side of the page.  I love the embellishments and the colors but for some reason the page does. not. work!  We had gone to the car show and one of the cars that we looked at has this crazy seat in the back.  It was a hatchback Mercedes and we could not get over how odd this was....

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
